Our Basic Skills program is for adults who may have experienced educational gaps, missed the opportunity to develop certain skills or missed necessary steps in their education.
Students may work on GED® preparation, basic reading, writing and mathematics, career exploration and college readiness skills. These classes help adults who want to improve, refresh or learn basic skills in English writing, reading and/or math.
Getting Started with Adult Basic Education Classes
1. Apply for Admissions
Students can apply for admissions online. Student will receive a Student ID number once they have applied for admissions.

New ABE students will need to take an assessment called CASAS. Students will need to bring their photo ID and their student ID number. CASAS testing is offered in the Basic Skills Office in Rutkowski Learning Center, room 125 (RLC-125). If the student has already taken ABE classes or the CASAS in the past six months, the student may not need to retake the CASAS.
CASAS can take up to 2.5 hours and is free of charge to students.
