Spring Quarter 2021 Announcement

By Dr Suzanne Johnson, GRC President, December 15, 2020

Dear Green River College Community -

As the fall quarter is coming to a close, planning ahead for the next calendar year is on many people’s minds.  As you know, we have already made the decision to continue our remote operations during the winter quarter.

Given the current data and infection rates of COVID 19 and the winter months ahead, we have decided that Green River College will continue the current instructional and work-from-home modalities during the 2021 spring quarter. This means the majority of courses will be delivered remotely and most employees will continue working remotely, with exceptions made for areas approved by Washington State's Campus Reopening Guide. This decision is not made lightly; however, maintaining remote learning and work where possible helps protect the health of our campus and community.

Having made this decision, we will still continue to look for new opportunities to expand our in-person course offerings and student support services, based on the guidance and guidelines provided by Gov. Inslee and healthcare officials. Should the pandemic ease and we can do so safely, instructors may request to return to in-person instruction; however, they will not be required to do so.

As has been the case since moving to remote operations, our student support services will continue to be offered remotely unless the Campus Reopening Guide changes and allows for more face-to-face support services. Students needing assistance can connect with many campus departments and services remotely, or visit our COVID-19 Student FAQ page for more information.

Thank you for your continued commitment to our students and your dedication to the work of the college.

Please stay well.
