About our program

Green River College's accounting programs can help you prepare for a rewarding career in accounting or business. You will learn the skills today's employers need, because we use input from area employers to create program content that is up-to-date with industry.

We emphasize computer skills in our courses so, in addition to learning theory and practical knowledge, you will learn how to use applications such as Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks.

Career & Technical

Earn Credentials for Employment

Programs in this track are designed to help students acquire practical accounting skills so they can enter the workforce. In as little as one quarter, students can attain certification in basic entry-level accounting clerk skills.

The graduate of the full two-year program will be well-prepared for employment and advancement in accounting and business fields.

In general, courses in the Career and Technical Education track are not transferable to universities. However, Green River graduates may be able to transfer their two-year AAA-Accounting degree to Bellevue College’s Bachelor of Applied Science in Applied Accounting degree program.

University Transfer

Be Prepared for Your Four-Year Program

For students who plan to transfer to a four-year university as accounting or business majors, Green River offers the Associate in Business Degree – Direct Transfer AgreementStudents in this track take a three-quarter sequence of transfer-level accounting courses. This degree is designed to meet the distribution requirements at universities in Washington state by fulfilling the general requirements taken by freshmen and sophomores.

EMPLOYMENT OUTLOOK

Occupations: Bookkeeper, Billing Clerk, Accounting Clerk, Tax Preparer, Payroll Administrator

Earnings: Range from $16.36 to $20.00 an hour, entry to mid-level.
