Germany Study Abroad Application

Application Process

Students must fill out a "preliminary" application in order to apply for the program. This application will require such things as a personal essay, unofficial transcript and letters of recommendation. Once approved by the Study Abroad Coordinator, students will be given the link to apply on-line for the program.

All students must submit the $450 deposit (and $50 Prague tour deposit, if applicable) when completing the online enrollment form. Subsequent payments may be made by check or credit card. Checks should be made payable to "AIFS". American Express, MasterCard and Visa are accepted.

Please note: a $35 returned check fee will be charged on all checks returned by the bank for insufficient funds.

Financial Aid Students

Financial Aid students are responsible for paying by Friday, January 26, 2018: the airfare ($TBC); taxes; fees and fuel surcharges ($TBC); balance of optional Prague excursion ($395, if applicable); $250 refundable damage deposit, a $600 program reservation deposit; and any remaining balance that will not be covered by aid.


Airfare is not included in the program fee. Students may make their own flight arrangements or

  • Students wishing to purchase the AIFS Transportation Package must apply by Wednesday, December 8, 2017. Students wishing to make their own flight arrangements must apply by Friday, January 19, 2018.
  • Participants wishing to purchase the Transportation Package must notify AIFS in writing by December 27, 2017. Participants wishing to cancel from the flight must notify AIFS in writing by Friday, January 26, 2018. Cancellation penalties will apply. Tickets are non-refundable after this date.

AIFS Airfare Regulations: Return must be to original U.S. departure point. Tickets are subject to airline availability. No refunds are available for any unused portion of ticket. Tickets cannot be rerouted, and stopovers are not permitted. Once in Berlin participants may be able to change their return date, but only if that date is available and in the same class of service in which the ticket was booked. Only the ticketing agent can provide this information. Participants are subject to agency and airline-imposed change fees and space availability. Group round-trip ground transportation to and from the airport in Berlin is on the regularly scheduled program dates only.

AIFS cannot guarantee that all passengers will be booked on the same flight.
A minimum of 12 students must take the flight for it to be offered.
