Financial Aid Priority Funding Processing Dates


Green River College’s Priority Funding Processing Date for Fall 2021 passed on April 30th. Apply now for winter quarter 2022!

Even if a student has missed the priority processing deadline, the Financial Aid Office encourages them to submit their FAFSA or WASFA for the quarter they are planning on attending courses at Green River College. 

A student is considered to have met a Priority Funding Processing Date by completing the online FAFSA or WASFA AND submitting all required documents, forms and information to our office by the deadline. A student will receive a note when their file is completed that says their file is "Ready for Review by Financial Aid Office" on their Financial Aid Portal under the "Information We Need From You" section. 

*Students do not need to re-apply for financial aid each quarter they plan to attend Green River College. However, students are required to renew their FAFSA or WASFA every year they are in college. Student are able to renew their FAFSA or WASFA as early as October 1st for the following award year. See the years below to understand which FAFSA or WASFA year you should complete depending on when you will be attending Green River College.*

What Happens After I Submit All My Financial Aid Documents?

Completed files are put in line to be awarded by monthly cutoff dates. All files that were completed before the priority processing deadline group are processed and awarded financial aid prior to moving on to files completed in subsequent months. 

Students can view the month that their financial aid file was completed in the Financial Aid Portal in the "Information We Need from You" section. The announcements section of the Financial Aid website is regularly updated with the current month we are awarding completed files. Depending on when students complete their financial aid file, it can take anywhere from 3 weeks to 7 months for a student's financial aid to be processed. Students are sent a notification to their Green River College student email when their financial aid has been processed.

Students who completed their files by the priority processing deadline will also be given a tuition hold to keep their classes in place before financial aid pays for them, typically 2-3 weeks before the start of each quarter. Students are responsible for covering the remaining balance on their student account if financial aid funds do not entirely cover their tuition and fees.

The FAFSA and WASFA applications for the 2022-23 award year are available now! Renew your application by April 30, 2022 to ensure you have aid for summer and fall quarter.

How do I submit a document to Financial Aid?

Students can now submit files electronically to our office using our secure document upload tool. Students can continue to submit documents via the Financial Aid Portal, but we will no longer accept documents via email for security reasons.
