The Writing & Reading Center is open for in-person tutoring Mondays through Thursdays. We continue to offer online tutoring seven days a week. Please view our schedule to book an appointment and view current tutor availability. 

Due to the close nature of tutoring, appropriate face masks are recommended. Appointments are recommended.

Tutoring Services

One-on-one consulting services for students at all stages of the writing process.

Due to COVID-19, we now take appointments. Whether you would like to work with a tutor in-person or online, please make an appointment before visiting.

Whether you have a question about grammar and usage or need help brainstorming ideas or focusing in essays, tutors are here to help. While you are here, take advantage of the excellent resource library and online exercises.

Though we cannot guarantee you error-free papers, we can help you to improve in the areas you choose to work on with a tutor, and make you feel more confident about your written work.

Online Services

  • Video Conference: work with a tutor in real-time for up-to 40 minutes
  • Paper Submission: upload your writing and a tutor will provide written feedback

In-Person Services

  • 40 minutes focused tutoring sessions
  • Help with all stages of the writing process
  • Access to computers
  • Handouts on a variety of common writing problems and styles
  • Library of writing textbooks and other reference books
  • Due to the close nature of tutoring, appropriate face masks are recommended

Writing & Reading Center Jobs

The Writing & Reading Center is seeking student writing consultants to serve the student writers who visit the center. With more than a thousand visitors each quarter, consultants help develop skills to become more effective, confident, college-level writers and successful students.

Consultants will participate and complete the training and mentoring process. This includes attending all orientations, reading all assigned essays and chapters, participating in the discussions, conducting observations, completing all assessments, and any other activities that are a part of the Canvas website and staff meetings. Must maintain a 3.0 overall G.P.A. and a 3.5 for all English coursework.
