By Lansing Bryan, Web and Social Media Specialist, May 8, 2019

Mitsuki Yoneda is from Japan and is majoring in Aerospace Engineering. He came to Green River in spring 2017 and will be graduating with his AAS in June 2019.

"It has been my dream since junior high school to study Aerospace Engineering. Unfortunately, I did not get into the university in Japan, so I came to the USA. I chose Green River College because of its reputation for getting students into top universities."

Mitsuki's was recently accepted into the Aeronautical & Astronautical Engineering (BSAAE) degree program at the University of Washington in Seattle. This was his first choice because of the reputation of the university. UW's Engineering program is ranked #18 in the nation according to US News & World Report.

Mitsuki is grateful to Green River College for the following reasons:

1. Excellent Engineering Program and Instructors

"I really like the engineering program and instructors. Especially Philip Andrist. He is one of the best instructors I have ever had. He is so organized, smart and kind. When I would visit his office he would help me solve problems. I took about 5 classes with him."

2. Good Study Environment

"Green River has been a very good experience. The study environment is good. I can concentrate on my studies because the college is surrounded by nature. There are no interruptions."

3. Helpful Advisors

"I am also grateful to my advisor, Jackie Li. She helped me a lot with my education plan and applying to universities. She read my personal essay and helped me correct errors."

4. Student Life Opportunities

There are a lot of opportunities to get involved in clubs and activities. Mitsuki is currently the President of the Japan Club.
"The purpose of the club is to share Japanese culture with students. We would teach calligraphy, Japanese slang, and share our food cultures such as the Japanese bento  box."

We are very happy for Mitsuki and know he will do well at the University of Washington.
